How to collect stool with FecesCatcher:
- Register your test at www.therio.me/register
- Open the FecesCatcher carefully in the direction of the arrows
- Paste the FecesCatcher on the back of the toilet seat
- Avoid that the FecesCatcher comes in contact with water
- After defecating, take the sample as indicated in Fecal Collection instructions
- After collecting the sample, loosen FecesCatcher into toilet and flush
Fecal Collection Tube Instructions:
- Put on gloves
- Once the fecal sample is collected on the FecesCatcher, unscrew the collection tube cap (brown cap). Place the cap upside down, ensuring it does not touch any objects or surfaces.
- Collecting the sample
- Non-Liquid Stool: Use the coring brush and poke different areas of the stool sample. For each poke performed, rotate the coring brush back and forth multiple times to event distribute stool around the coring brush. Avoid keeping large clumps of stool on the brush. Poke 10 - 12 different areas of entire stool sample (be careful not to pierce the FecesCatcher).
- Liquid Stool: First collect 1 - 2mL of liquid with the plastic bulb pipette and squirt it into collection tube (1-4 squirts). Then use the coring brush as best as you can to collect stool and liquid stool from many areas around the FecesCatcher to create a representative sample.
- Ensure the brush has even coverage of stool around the brush with no large clumps. Place the coring brush in the collection tube and mix the brush with the solution for 10 seconds.
- Tighten the cap and shake to mix the contents thoroughly.
- Dispose of unnecessary materials such as the coring brush.
Returning the Sample
- Place the fecal collection tube into the plastic ziplock bag it came in and seal bag
- Place the bagged tube into the “biohazard” bag and seal the bag
- Place the “biohazard” bag into the provided padded envelope
- Drop off the padded return envelope with UPS
